Canada Day 2020 - A Spectacular Celebration!
As much as we love to hate it, the year 2020 has been a realization of sorts. You know, how sometimes we need a little tough love to learn a more valuable lesson in life. Well, 2020 taught us more than just a few.
2020 will be remembered as the year humankind fought a novel pandemic, an unknown virus that shook the whole world. While the threats of COVID 19 still linger, we are now more confident than ever. We are confident as a community and as a nation, that together we are stronger. That with everyone’s support we can rise against any adversity. That it may take a little bit longer, but if we have each other’s back there’s light at the end of every tunnel.
But that’s not all, the year 2020 also gave us an opportunity to make amends. For everything that we never had the time for, or so we thought. Turns out, all our excuses were in fact non-essential. Looking back, in the last few decades we have grown so distant from our roots and our loved ones. Frankly, we needed these three months of distancing to slow down, reflect and undo our doings! And folks, we did really well. Even in the darkest hour, our children made rainbows shine through the windows. Our parents juggled between working from home and home schooling. Our grandparents drove by our homes to shower their love and blessings. Neighbors came up with newer ideas to make our socially-distant birthday parties special. To be entirely honest, we might even miss all of these a little, no?
Let’s take this moment to acknowledge what we have accomplished as a community, we made sacrifices for the well-being of those who were more vulnerable. As a society, we showed gratitude & appreciation for those who continued to be on the front lines of fighting the pandemic. We extended our love and support to the small & local businesses who struggled to keep afloat. We came together, as a team, to help our administration as they navigated through these uncharted waters. And, let’s never forget our essential workers who braved a worldwide pandemic to make sure we could keep going on with our lives. It was a real team effort Y’all! And now it is time for us to celebrate the kindness that makes Canada truly and beautifully the greatest nation.
This year, we also restored the shared values upon which the foundation of our great nation is built, we stood hand in hand with our fellow compatriots to fight for what’s right. We paused, we listened, we learned and we never stopped believing in what really matters. Oh Canada, you did us all proud. Don’t blame us, if we go a little overboard with our 2020 Canada Day celebrations. For this year, we as a country truly deserve a grand salute for what we have achieved in the face of a global pandemic.
And even though, this year we might miss the customary Canada Day celebrations as we continue to act responsibly for the well-being of our communities. But baby, we did make the fireworks happen. 2020, the year that it has been so far, is undeniably the most spectacular celebration of what Canada believes in and stands for. A celebration of comradeship that unites us as one nation. Celebration of our duties as citizens. And an ode to the ever so wonderful spirit of Canada that makes our hearts swell with pride and gratitude for the country we call home. O Canada! With glowing hearts we see thee rise, The True North strong & free.
